At Desteba Productions, S.L., we built OpenTracker with a simple philosophy: Your data belongs to you! This Privacy Policy explains how we keep that promise.

1. THE SHORT VERSION

• We don't collect your data
• We don't track you
• We don't sell anything to anyone
• Your GPS tracks stay on YOUR device
• No accounts, no servers, no cloud (unless YOU choose it)

2. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT

None. Zero. Nada. We mean it.

OpenTracker does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data on our servers. We don't even have servers that store user data.

3. DATA STORAGE

All your GPS tracks, waypoints, photos, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to:

• Export tracks (via AirDrop, email, etc.)
• Enable iCloud sync (stored in YOUR iCloud, not ours)
• Share live location (temporary, see below)
• Send to your own server (you configure the URL)

4. OPTIONAL FEATURES & YOUR CHOICES

iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your tracks are backed up to your personal iCloud account. This uses Apple's infrastructure, not ours. Apple's Privacy Policy applies.

Live Location Sharing (Optional)
When you create a live sharing session:

• A temporary, anonymous session is created
• GPS coordinates are stored on our server for 1-72 hours (you choose)
• No personal information is attached (no name, email, or ID)
• Data is automatically deleted when the session expires
• The session uses a random 64-character key
• No one can access it without the exact link

Custom Server Broadcasting (Optional)
You can configure OpenTracker to send GPS data to ANY server you want:

• You provide the URL
• You control what data is sent
• We never see this data
• This is YOUR server, YOUR responsibility

5. LOCATION DATA

OpenTracker is a GPS tracking app, so yes, it accesses your location. But:

• Location data stays on your device
• We never see your location
• You control when tracking starts and stops
• Privacy Mode can skip the first/last meters to hide your home
• Background location is only used when you're actively tracking

We request "Always Allow" location permission because outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, motorcycling) often last hours with the phone in your pocket or backpack. You can revoke this anytime in iOS Settings.

6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Apple Maps
We use Apple Maps for displaying maps. Apple may collect anonymous usage data. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple iCloud (Optional)
If you enable sync, Apple's Privacy Policy applies to data stored in iCloud.

Your Own Servers (Optional)
If you configure custom endpoints, your server's privacy policy applies.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY OpenTracker is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We don't collect data from anyone, including children. Parents can supervise their children's use of the app.

8. ANALYTICS & TRACKING

We don't use:

• Analytics tools (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Crash reporting services (no Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media tracking pixels
• Any form of user tracking

If the app crashes, Apple may collect anonymous crash logs through their system (not ours). You can disable this in iOS Settings.

9. COOKIES & SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

OpenTracker doesn't use cookies. The live sharing web viewer may use session cookies for basic functionality (keeping you logged into a session), but these don't track you.

10. DATA SECURITY

Your data is protected by:

• iOS encryption (all data stored on-device is encrypted)
• HTTPS/TLS for any network communication
• No central database that could be breached
• Privacy by design: we can't lose what we don't have

11. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws, you have rights regarding your data:

Right to Access: All your data is on your device. You have full access.
Right to Delete: Delete the app, your data is gone.
Right to Export: Use the built-in export features (GPX, KML, JSON, etc.)
Right to Opt-Out: Don't use optional features like iCloud or live sharing.

Since we don't collect data, most rights are automatically satisfied.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we update this policy, we'll:

• Update the "Last Updated" date
• Notify you in the app (for material changes)
• Post the new version at https://opentracker.xierra.app/privacy

Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.

13. INTERNATIONAL USERS

OpenTracker is available worldwide. Your data stays on your device regardless of where you are. If you use live sharing, data is temporarily stored on servers in the EU (GDPR-compliant).

Most privacy policies are written to cover data collection. Ours is written to confirm we DON'T collect data. We built OpenTracker because we believe:

• Your adventures are yours
• Your location is sensitive
• Privacy shouldn't be optional
• You deserve better than Big Tech surveillance
